Record where you measure

The most expensive part of self-monitoring is not the measuring. It is the way from the reading to the record. MessLOG shortens it to a single step.

At the bath

Recording on the phone

One value, large and centred, the target range as a bar beneath. System keyboard or large keys — the plant decides, not the software.

Immediate assessment

Target and limit values per record type. A deviation shows up while typing, not three days later during evaluation.

Photo and action

The camera opens after saving. Stored standard actions save free-form writing.

Values from a photo

For multi-parameter instruments showing temperature, pH value and conductivity at once: photograph the display and the values are matched to the right fields.

No value is ever saved. Proposals appear highlighted in yellow and only become measurements once the inspector confirms them. Where the reading is unclear, it is left out — a missing proposal is harmless, a wrong one is not.

In the laboratory

Measurement records

Freely definable types with their own quantities, units and limits. Thirty-day trend curve with target band.

Calibration

Test equipment with interval and due date. Overdue and falling due are distinguished — what is pending reports itself.

External analyses

Submissions with a PDF accompanying note, return and result values. What is overdue stands out.

QR codes: find without searching

Three places are reachable by QR code without signing in. The code contains a long random identifier, not a password.

The usual questions on the shop floor are: Has this been measured today? and Where does this belong? A glance at the phone answers both, instead of looking for someone with access.

Daily record at the bath

A code on the plant leads to today's records: values, assessment, actions, photos. Protected by a PIN if wanted.

Shelf and storage location

Codes on shelves show what is stored there — with stock and expiry. Useful during stocktaking and when putting things back.

Whatever is on screen can be taken along or passed on.

Not an off-the-shelf product

This is what sets MessLOG apart from bought software: every plant gets its own version.

  • Modules, menu, fields, record types and texts are set up for the plant — without programming, in the editing area.
  • What is missing gets built, not added to a roadmap. Between "we need this" and "it is in" lie days, not quarters.
  • There are no licence tiers in which the feature you want always happens to sit one tier higher.

This is possible because the application is deliberately plain: pure PHP, no third-party frameworks. A change is a change, not a rebuild.

Honesty requires the other side too: this is not shelf software with a hundred references. The advantage is closeness, the price is dependence on a small supplier. Anyone weighing that up should be able to.

What MessLOG is not

  • No substitute for the specifications. What has to be checked and how often is in QUALICOAT, GSB AL 631 and the QIB rules.
  • No certification. A clean record does not pass an inspection. A clean plant does — MessLOG helps prove it.
  • No machine interface. Values are entered by people.
  • No technical adviser. The built-in assistant helps with operating the application — not with running the baths.
